Hockey Betting Lines
12/24/2006 - Denver, CO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Rookie Wojtek Wolski tallied two goals to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at the Pepsi Center.
Joe Sakic added a goal and an assist for the Avalanche, who returned to action for the first time since the Denver area was rocked by a massive snowstorm.
Colorado's scheduled home game with Calgary on Thursday had to be postponed due to the blizzard which covered the Mile High City with nearly three feet of snow.
Goaltender Jose Theodore made 17 saves for the Avalanche, who have won two straight.
Radim Vrbata and Patrick Sharp scored for the Blackhawks, who have dropped two of their last three games. Nikolai Khabibulin allowed three goals on 22 shots.
Vrbata gave Chicago the early 1-0 lead, scoring his seventh goal of the season 2:45 after the opening faceoff. Vrbata's goal was his first point in six games, his longest drought of the season.
A little over a minute later, Sakic tied the game after scoring his 15th goal of the season. From the high slot, Ken Klee made a pass to Sakic, who was stationed just outside the crease, and the veteran backhanded the puck over the goal line.
Wolski scored a power-play goal about midway through the first period to give the Avalanche a 2-1 edge. Wolski's wrister hit off Jassen Cullimore in front and past Khabibulin.
Sharp quickly tied the game back up after scoring at 11:43 of the first with the Blackhawks down a man. Denis Arkhipov dished the puck to Sharp, who one- timed the feed from the left circle into the top left corner of the net.
Wolski's second goal of the game 4:32 into the second stanza gave Colorado a 3-2 edge. Sakic fed the puck to Wolski in the slot and his quick wrister beat Khabibulin high to the glove side.
Chicago pulled its goaltender with under a minute left, but were unable to generate any quality scoring chances.
